Review of Regional Schools Commissioner Activities in Schools with Low Levels of Disadvantage Pupil Progress (DfE, 2018)
Process evaluation of a trial in two regions, to understand how Regional School Commissioners (RSCs) responded to a new progress data driven system designed to enable them to challenge schools where disadvantaged pupils persistently make poor progress.
The review explored the additional support RSCs put in place as a result during the spring and summer terms of the 2017-18 school year – including the rationale behind any activities and how well they were implemented. Research to inform development of the policy and lessons for national implementation. Involved 46 telephone interviews over two waves – RSC leads and staff, Education Advisors, senior leaders in recipient schools and partner schools.
