Dr Julie Wilkinson BSc, PgDip, PhD
Julie has over 15 years experience of managing and conducting research in the social care, criminal justice and education sectors. She has commissioned and managed large-scale projects for the Department of Education, the Home Office and Department of Communities and Local Government.
As a senior social researcher at the Department for Education, Julie led on research and evaluation projects related to children’s social care. After leaving the Department for Education in 2012 she became an independent research consultant. Julie’s specialism is conducting and analysing qualitative interviews and focus groups with individuals who may be vulnerable and with professional stakeholders.
She works collaboratively with other researchers and has taken a lead role in various projects, including the DfE Innovation funded evaluation of Pause, a qualitative study on the impact of the family justice reforms on frontline practice, and an evidence review on the impacts of abuse and neglect on children and young people. She has also carried out research for various local authorities and voluntary organisations on initiatives to improve children’s services delivery.
